The worst day now’s better than the best day before. I have my woman, my house, my dog. I meditate in the garden.
I have to write a post for The Pussy audiobook. It was supposed to come out July 4, which is the tenth anniversary of the book. This after other delays. We recorded it years ago. And it was gonna be Christmas 2023, 2024, etc. The first time I was bothered. Every other time I’ve been relieved. There’s a publisher, he called me Friday, there’s a problem with the file at Amazon, they’re working on it. He expected me to be mad. But I was relieved. I didn’t have to write a post promoting it.
Now I do. Buy The Pussy audiobook. I’ll give you a month of free paywalled Substack if you buy it. Email me the receipt, delicioustacosdotcom@gmail.com. Use the word “receipt” in the email. And you can read all my paid shit without paying me. The Substack has everything in my published books and stuff from my upcoming book True Love. It’s not a scam either where I make you give a credit card. Hope you forget to cancel.
How is it. Not bad, not great. I read it myself. It’s eight hours long. Within those eight hours there’ll be minutes where it’s great, minutes where it sucks. It has to be better in reality than I think it is. Because I wrote the book about the worst time in my life. I hated making and editing the original book. I’ve read the shit in it a million times, and then I had to read it again out loud, over and over. You’ll like it more than me.
There are bangers in there. The Tenga thing is still the best thing I’ve done. I may make it to the grave not topping it. The McDonald’s thing, Autopilot, Bud. There’s some iconic shit in there, I really wasn’t bad. Someone should have discovered me and lifted me out of obscurity.
The stuff that was about real love I did a good job reading. It’s worth it for that.
I don’t listen to audiobooks. So I ask myself: why does this exist. The bad version is I did it for money. Or I wanted to have something come out while True Love takes forever. But the good version is I did it as an act of service. People asked for it. People like audiobooks. Truck drivers, the blind, people on a treadmill. And then am I gonna have someone else do the voice about my friend, my father and my cat dying.
I don’t think I’ll get money from this. And that’s fine. Money is the devil, it literally is Satan. The force that makes you selfish, dishonest and insecure. Money makes you so afraid you turn from God. Maybe I’ll take what I make from this, turn it into physical bills, and destroy it.
I was in there almost weeping reading the chapter about her. About my my ex-fiancee dying. Driving home I listened to a song we loved, by Belle and Sebastian. If She Wants Me. It got to I said goodbye to someone that I love
And the radio stopped. And I knew it was her. She was there. So maybe there’s something.
